The College Provost represented by the Registrar, Mall. Abdul-Hakeem Hussaini Baba and the Student Affairs Officer, Mall. Bilyaminu Usman attended the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) workshop on Compliance with Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023: Promoting Compliance in Nigeria Polytechnics and Monotechnics.
The opening remark was presented by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris Bugaje who stated that the workshop was organized by both the NBTE and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
The National Commissioner/CEO of NDPC, Dr. Vincent O. Olatunji, stated that the event was organized to create awareness of the roles of Provosts and Rectors of Monotechnics and Polytechnics in the Implementation of the Act, the Protocols in handling Staff and Student Data and also the Consequence thereof.
He also encouraged the institutions on the need to appoint Data Protection Officer’s (DPOs) to liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance.
The event was held at the NBTE Liasion Office, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Tuesday, 7th November, 2023.
