OVERVIEW

The programmwe is designed to provide grandaunts with the knowledge and skills to assist in planing, processing collating, organizing, disseminating, monitoring and managing vital information required in the entire health care system to ensure effective and comprehensive health care delivery.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Upon completion of the programme graduates will be able to:

  • Assist in planning and organizing Health information services in Health Care Delivery System.
  • Organize and control Health Records, under Supervision in health and medical establishment.
  • Collect, Store, retrieve and preserve health information
  • Collate, analyze and present health statistical data under supervision
  • participate in planning quality control, evaluation researches in health care delivery system and other relevant committees i defining standards for health information .

ENTRY REQUIREMENTAL

A Minimum of five (5) credits passes i relevant subjects, at not more than two (2) sitting at the SSCE, WAEC, or its equivalent.

The Subjects must include:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Biology or Health Science
  • Physics or Chemistry
  • Any other subject

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The programme is a three (3) years terminal professional programme including industrial attachment under the supervision of the Health Records Officers’ Registration Board Of Nigeria (HRORBN).

The HRORBN will award diploma to candidates who successfully completed the programme in accredited institution offering the programme after passing the prescribed course work, examinations, project, Supervised Works Experience Scheme(SIWES) and attendance.

Graduates are employed in private and public organizations. There are three division of work area for Health Information Managers, these includes the following : Tertiary (Teaching Hospitals, Federal Medical Centre Specialist Hospital), Secondary (State General Hospital , State Specialist Hospital) and Primary (Primary Health Care), NGO’s, (WHO,USAID,DFID,Global Fund), Private Hospitals , Research Institutes.
