NEWGATE COLLEGE

Farewell & New Beginnings: Final Year Community and Public Health Technicians Honoured in Grand Send Forth

It was a day of mixed emotions—pride, joy, and bittersweet goodbyes—on Thursday, 14th August 2025, as the Departments of National Diploma in Community Health and Public Health Technician, Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna, hosted their Final Year Students Exit Training and Send Forth Ceremony at the Pharm. Dr. Haruna Aliyu Lecture Hall.

The ceremony brought together the College leadership, including Provost, Mrs. Queendaline Opara Iwuala, the Deputy Provost, the Registrar, other members of Management, lecturers, and proud family members of the graduating students. The air was filled with excitement as graduates prepared to step into the next chapter of their professional journey.

The highlight of the event was the keynote presentation by Mr. Abubakar Usman Kpantu, State Immunization Officer, Ministry of Primary Health Care, Niger State, who spoke on the theme:
“The Role of Community Health Practitioners / Public Health Technicians in the Implementation of Immunization Services at the PHC Level.”
His address challenged the graduates to become frontline champions in strengthening Nigeria’s immunization programmes and improving health outcomes in their communities.

Another memorable moment came with the presentation of certificates to outstanding students, applauding their hard work, leadership, and exceptional performance throughout their studies. Loud cheers filled the hall as names were called and awardees proudly stepped forward.

The day ended with warm embraces, photographs, and emotional farewells. Lecturers shared words of encouragement, classmates exchanged heartfelt promises to stay in touch, and the graduates left the hall not just with certificates, but with the confidence, skills, and determination to make a difference in the world of public health.

As one chapter closed, another began—full of promise, purpose, and the spirit of service that defines every Newgate graduate.
