Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna Holds 10th Convocation Ceremony

The 10th Convocation Ceremony of Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna was held with grandeur and celebration as the College successfully graduated over 600 students across Higher National Diploma (HND), National Diploma (ND), Professional Diploma, and a single Certificate Programme.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman, Governing Council, Mallam Muhammad Dattijo Usman (Ubandoman Minna), and the Provost, Mrs. Queendaline Opara Iwuala, commended the visionary Founder, Mallam Hassan Nuhu (Mayanan Minna) — Founder, Newgate College and Group; Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Newgate University Minna — for his foresight, dedication to academic excellence, and tireless commitment to advancing health education in Nigeria. They also appreciated the College Supervisor, Management, Staff, and Parents for their unwavering support and contributions to the institution’s remarkable progress.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of The Annual Ahmed Marafa Guni Award for Academic Excellence. This year, two graduands emerged as joint overall best graduating students, each achieving an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.00. The awards were personally presented by RT. Hon. Ahmed Marafa Guni (Kakakin Minna) in recognition of their exceptional academic performance and dedication to excellence.
In addition, two other graduands from the same department were specially recognised and honoured for their exceptional academic achievements, further underscoring the department’s record of excellence.

In his address, the Founder, Mallam Hassan Nuhu, reflected on the College’s 11-year journey of growth, innovation, and impact, commending everyone who has contributed to its success and development. He reaffirmed that Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna is the first privately owned tertiary health institution in North Central Nigeria, and notably, the only privately owned Corps Producing Institution (CPI) recognised by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Niger State.

As part of his continued support for academic excellence, the Founder announced scholarships for the best graduating students from all nine departments, covering HND, ND, and Professional Diploma categories, for admission into Newgate University Minna. In addition, the best graduating student from the Certificate Programme was awarded a scholarship to proceed to a National Diploma at Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries from the academia, government, civil society groups, organised labour, and friends of the Newgate family, who gathered to celebrate 11 years of excellence and the 10th Convocation Ceremony of the institution — a decade of distinction and service to humanity through quality health education.
