With pride and passion, the Pharmacy Technician Department of Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna, joined the global community to celebrate the heroes behind every prescription — the pharmacy technicians who make healthcare safer and stronger every day.The Pharmacy Technician Department of Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna joined the global community to celebrate World Pharmacy Technician Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the vital role pharmacy technicians play in promoting safe and quality healthcare.The 2025 global theme, “More Than Just a Tech,” beautifully captures the essence of what pharmacy technicians represent — compassion, professionalism, and commitment to patient well-being. In Nigeria, the Reformed Forum of Pharmacy Technicians in Nigeria (RFPTN) further emphasized this year’s focus on “Professionalism and Quality: Pharmacy Technicians as Frontline Healthcare Professionals.”Leading the Newgate delegation to the memorable event, the Head of Department, Pharm. Dr. Murtala Sanusi, expressed heartfelt pride in the department’s students and alumni. “It gladdens my heart to walk into any health facility and see our graduates serving humanity with excellence and humility,” he said. “They truly reflect what we stand for at Newgate — service, skill, and heart.”Also speaking at the event, Pharm. Mohammed Alfa Isah, a senior lecturer in the department, highlighted the urgent need for more qualified pharmacy technicians in Nigeria. He commended the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) for its commitment to ensuring that only certified professionals operate within the field, especially those managing patent medicine stores and pharmacies. According to him, this effort is vital in safeguarding lives and strengthening healthcare delivery.The event brought together the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Niger State Ministry of Health, key industry stakeholders, students, and members of the general public. It was a moment of learning, connection, and appreciation for a profession that often works quietly behind the scenes — yet plays an indispensable role in every community.As the celebration came to a close, one message stood out clearly: pharmacy technicians are indeed “More Than Just a Tech.” They are caregivers, educators, and everyday heroes, helping to make the world a healthier and safer place — one prescription at a time.
